What is SCUBA?

Scuba diving is a mode of underwater diving where you use a self contained underwater breathing apparatus or SCUBA.  SCUBA is completely independent of surface supply and divers carry their own source of compressed air in a SCUBA cylinder. To get air from the tank to the diver, we use regulators, taking the high pressured air and reducing it to an ambient pressure so we can breathe it. Divers wear buoyancy compensation devices, or BCDs, to allow them to control their position in the water, allowing them to go deeper or shallower. Divers wear masks to allow them to see in the water and fins to allow them to move around.

Where can Kraken run SCUBA sessions for my group?

Kraken regularly run evening and weekend try-dive sessions in the  Colchester area. Please contact us for more info

However, if your group is further afield, please get in touch. We work with BSAC clubs and their pool share scheme, so we can find pool locations close to your unit or group to run a session for you.

Kraken also offer ocean conservation evenings for groups, which is another great way to get your young people involved in the underwater world!

Everything aokay!

Is SCUBA diving safe?

Yes!

Although diving is classed as an extreme sport, with proper training and by following safe practices, SCUBA diving is a safe and enjoyable sport that can be enjoyed by all!

Kraken Dive Team try-dive sessions are run by fully qualified SCUBA Diving professionals. Our equipment is regularly serviced and tested and we follow strict Scouting and diver training agency regulations and codes of practice.

Where can Kraken set up mobile SCUBA sessions

Just about anywhere! We need a flat area to set up our mobile pools, and access to a clean water supply (to fill our pools) and access to power to run our diving air compressor, but that's about it. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
